iPhone 16 series comes with 8GB RAM
The entire iPhone 16 series, introduced at Monday’s event, will be powered by the A18 series processor. While the standard and Plus models will feature the A18 chip, the Pro and Pro Max models will be powered by the A18 Pro processor. These chips were chosen to support Apple Intelligence, and there are notable developments on the RAM front as well.
Although no RAM details were shared during the launch event or listed on the official website, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, Johny Srouji, confirmed in an interview that the iPhone 16 series will come equipped with 8GB of RAM.
This marks the first time Apple has confirmed the RAM capacity for the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. The decision to equip all models with 8GB of RAM is likely due to the requirements of Apple Intelligence. Reports suggest that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, which have 6GB of RAM, are unable to fully utilize Apple Intelligence.
In the interview, Srouji explained:
“We’re finding the right balance and determining what makes the most sense. Apple Intelligence was a significant feature that led us to believe 8GB was necessary. Additionally, 8GB of RAM will greatly benefit gaming, high-end gaming, AAA titles, and other advanced applications. We believe this will be incredibly useful.”
